VINEGAR PIE

1 baked pie shell

1 egg
cube of butter
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 c. sugar
1 c. boiling water
2 Tbsp. vinegar

3 egg whites
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
6 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Put all ingredients in a saucepan. Cook until thick. Put in a
baked pie shell.

Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until foamy. Beat in sugar,
1 tablespoon at a time; continue beating until stiff and glossy.
Do not underbeat. Beat in vanilla. Place on top of vinegar filling.
Bake about 10 minutes or until delicate brown. Cool away from
draft.
